Thanksgiving is here and all I can think about is it’s sunny and somewhat warm…

I’m beyond grateful to live in the great state of California and to have met so many people in business that I truly consider good friends. You know it’s funny a lot of times in business people try to be too professional.

You know by now that I don’t take myself too serious and that I don’t try to be someone that I’m not. In my years of networking; I’ve met so many people and the one thing that stands out to me the most is that it’s not about getting new business (closing deals). When networking I’m truly seeking out individuals that fit within what I deem as my tribe.
I found my place within the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce back in 2012 and more specifically with their group the Silicon Valley Young Professionals. One of the things that I’ve often talked with a good friend of mine about, Ravinder Lal, is that we don’t just do business together we actually hang out together. For example, I’ve gone to opening day 49ers tailgate outings with my chamber friends and even done the San Jose Bike Parties at night. Neither of these two outings directly relate to business at all. Business comes as a result of the friendship and that my friends is true networking. I’m thankful that in 2018 my tribe of WhatUp misfits is expanding to a team of 5!

For the first time in at least 4 years I do not have my 2018 sales goals written out prior to Thanksgiving and you know what; I’m okay with that. As I’ve grown as a person (and expanded my book of business) I’ve taken the “sales blinders” off that I once had and now am truly focused on making a positive impact within the community in which I live. 2018 will be a year of more appreciation, more giving back, and more growth.

Wishing you all a very happy and relaxing Thanksgiving. Remember drinking plenty of water can help fill you up quicker to avoid overeating and a food-coma-Friday 😉

Here’s a pic from my Thanksgiving last year… we had to give our dogs their own little mini Thanksgiving 🙂
(the one on the top left smiling in the multi-colored scarf is my dog Riley).

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, y’all!
